This specialized injection mold produces sports caps for reusable water bottles, hydration packs, and protein shaker bottles. The mold can accommodate two common sports cap designs: (1) push-pull nozzles where a central spout extends when pulled upward and seals when pushed down, and (2) silicone bite valves where a slit valve opens under lip pressure and self-seals afterward. The plastic components (base cap, nozzle, and dust cover) are molded from food-grade PP or LDPE, while the mold itself is built from corrosion-resistant stainless steel (S136 or DIN 1.2083) to prevent any contamination risk. The push-pull mechanism requires extremely tight tolerances on the spout-to-cap sealing surface (ยฑ0.008mm), which we achieve using wire EDM finishing and lapping processes. For bite valve molds, the tool includes a cavity for overmolding silicone directly onto the plastic base, creating a permanent bond without adhesives. The mold features a hot runner system with eight-drop sequence control to ensure balanced filling of tall, slender nozzles without weld lines. An optional in-mold labeling (IML) feature can be added to apply grip textures or branding on the cap exterior. Cycle time is typically 12 to 18 seconds. Each sports cap mold is test-run for leak resistance (no dripping at 1.5 bar air pressure) and open-close cycle durability (minimum 5,000 cycles). Cavity counts from 8 to 48 are available depending on cap complexity.
